Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 2 hours and 30 minutes
Total Time: 2 hours and 40 minutes
Servings: 12 people
Ingredients
Ham: 1 fully cooked ham, about 7 to 9 pounds
Peach preserves: 1 (20-ounce) jar
Creole mustard: 1 1/2 tablespoons (or spicy mustard, or Dijon)
Peach liqueur (Schnapps): 2 tablespoons (or peach nectar)
Lemon juice: 2 tablespoons
Cinnamon: Dash
Directions
STEP 1
Preparation: Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the ham’s packaging, typically about 325°F. Place the ham in a large roasting pan.
STEP 2
Baking: Bake the ham as directed on the packaging, approximately 18 minutes per pound. This allows the ham to heat thoroughly.
STEP 3
Mixing the Glaze: While the ham is baking, combine the peach preserves, mustard, peach liqueur, lemon juice, and a dash of cinnamon in a small bowl. Stir until smooth and well blended.
STEP 4
Scoring the Ham: Remove the ham from the oven once it is nearly done. Using a sharp knife, score the skin of the ham in a diamond pattern, being careful not to cut too deeply.
STEP 5
Applying the Glaze: Spoon the peach glaze over the scored ham, spreading it to coat the entire surface.
STEP 6
Final Baking: Return the glazed ham to the oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes, allowing the glaze to caramelize and infuse the ham with flavor. For an extra special touch, you can place pineapple rings and cherries on top of the ham before returning it to the oven.
